University of Otago Recreation Centre (UniPol)
UniPol Facility Showcase
UniPol is the fitness and recreation facility of the University of Otago. With its location as part of Forsyth Barr Stadium (home of the Highlanders Super Rugby Team) and nearly 700,000 visits per year, it has become Dunedin’s most visited venue! Its fleet of 124 cardio machines, and treadmills have clocked over 2 million kilometres to date. The team at UniPol chose Life Fitness because our equipment can withstand the punishment the ‘Scarfies’ put it through.
“The University of Otago’s Recreation Centre (UniPol) has been operating since 1990. During this period there have been over 12 million visits. The equipment must handle what can be thrown at it and still keep up appearances.
We can still remember the first Life Fitness cardio equipment and the student queues for the 9100HR Stepper. This machine was a pioneer in the area of work hard, play hard.
Rivalling the Stepper was the 95Ti treadmill. A treadmill engine that invites work, no student has ever beaten the 95Ti. As a result of this durability we have continued our relationship with Life Fitness.
Now we find ourselves in the land of benches, bells, belts, bands, barbells and big hand weights. Life Fitness is a true recreational playground.”
