BUSY GROUP TRAINING CLASSES
SPORTS WORLD'S HOLISTIC APPROACH TO FITNESS
It’s not always easy to find the formula to create a vibrant health club—a place where exercisers can’t wait to be and don’t want to leave—but Sports World certainly has. The club in Amsterdam doesn’t just do a couple of things right, it manages to find the perfect balance of environment, equipment and energy.
AMAZING ARCHITECTURE CREATES A WELCOMING ENVIRONMENT
The inviting nature of Sports World starts with the building it calls home. The classic brick structure was constructed in 1889, and served as a coal gas factory and dairy before giving way to a fitness facility.
Vaulted ceilings, ample exposed brick and riveted steel beams combine with large arched windows to create rugged, but warm, environment that exercisers want to be a part of.
“It was very important to fulfill every need of every member. From the beginner to advanced, from young to old, from cardio equipment to Hammer Strength. It's our mission to help every member reach their own goals."
— Barry Schreurs, GENERAL MANAGER
LIMITLESS WORKOUT POSSIBILITIES
Keeping a wide range of exercisers active is easy thanks to ample cardio equipment, options for high-intensity interval training, performance strength training areas, studios for indoor cycling and yoga, and even a few outdoor running classes.
The location of each piece of equipment has purpose. A SYNRGY360 system resides in the middle of a large cardio room, adjacent to a pair of Cybex SPARCs that provide HIIT options for individuals and groups. Treadmills, bikes, ellipticals, Arc trainers and Row GX trainers share a convenient cardio space next to selectorized strength equipment. There’s a large area devoted solely to Hammer Strength plate-loaded and a space with benches for free weights.
If the standard individual gym experience isn’t your thing, Sports World has a loaded slate of 125 group exercise classes.
“We have a lot of different members, and we want to extend training possibilities on every level—from beginner to advanced,” said Barry Schreurs, general manager of Sports World. “We are delivering the best service to our members. Members first!”
Eleven personal trainers help make sure that members get the most out of their visits to Sports World. Experts provide guidance to members through one-on-one personal training around a Hammer Strength HD Athletic rack, small group training with a SYNRGY360 system, martial arts instruction and dozens of other workout modalities.
The trainers come from a variety of backgrounds and specialties ranging from kickboxing to sports massage to nutrition coaching. Even the personal trainers at Sports World offer something for every exerciser.
THE IMPORTANCE OF OFFERING MORE
The facility experience doesn’t stop when the sweating does. Overall fitness is about more than just working out, and Sports World knows that. A sauna and steam room provide a nice post-workout reward. The club even brings in physical therapy professionals periodically to help members prevent and treat injuries.
Expert guidance continues with knowledge offered online. The Sports World website posts frequent blogs with encouraging tips for members about healthy eating, lifestyle changes and workout ideas.
